I am, and also been active with the Girard Community Swing, Dixie, and Concert Bands (2001 to Present); Girard High School Marching, Concert and Pep Bands (1981-1986); Heidelberg University Concert, Marching and Pep Bands (1986-1991); Warren Junior Military Band (1982-1985). I am very much a goal-oriented and visual person, so I like to set clear goals for my students. I like to get to know my students personally and create a more open relationship. Some students learn much quicker than others and that is okay! But, I do always encourage my students to progress using proper techniques to prevent burnout and any injuries. I am an educator and musician with many vast and varied experiences in the field, from performing as a drummer in popular music groups, to instructing students individually and in groups from the time I was 16 years old. I began my college studies at Eastern Michigan University, becoming a member of the United States Military Academy Band at West Point after my junior year. After moving to North Carolina she started a Baums Music school, were she teach piano to the class of 50 students. Her students knowledge evaluated through local and state festivals and competitions. Mayas students have won many prizes and rewords at the different levels. Maya was elected as a president of Raleigh Music Club and continues teaching out of a private home studio. Even if the child ends up not continuing as a pianist, my goal is that he/she will always be in contact with music, whether as a patron, composer, or playing another instrument.
