I have been teaching privately for three years. In my time teaching I have learned that the fundamentals of playing an intrument is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome. With this in mind I have found many different ways to isolate weaknesses and build them to a higher level. My students have all improved from the first day that I taught them and I look forward to teach more students. Read More

For young beginners, I use a lot of the Suzuki Method of teaching. Music games, pitch recognition and rhythms are all introduced as games during the lessons. My adults study from a combination of pieces, exercises, scales and duets. I think understanding the pieces you are playing is important so students learn how to recognize key signatures and time signatures. I have many students participate in school orchestra and youth orchestra programs so students are coached on how to prepare, how to audition and learn how to cope with nerves. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin
I began teaching lessons as early as high school. It started out as a way to mentor younger students in my school district and get them ready for auditions for orchestras in high school. I then began to take other students and continued to do so throughout my undergrad. I have had students ranging from age 3 to age 15 before, but youre never too old to start learning music! A students experience with a teacher can make or break their interest in music. Read More

I collaborate with my students to determine their needs and goals. When starting out with beginners, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Strings. I then transition to Suzuki repertoire. I also include music individual to each student based on their interests. My methods are flexible and designed to draw out the strengths of each student. I like to have open communication with my students, and I like to get feedback from my students about where they are at so I can meet them there. Read More

I love music and love creating music experiences with others. I was in the I violin section in the Fairbanks Symphony orchestra the last few years. I received my Suzuki Teacher Certification for Violin books 1-6 in 2018. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Violin Performance in May of 2016. I've had much experience playing in an orchestra and being a part of string ensembles. I was concertmaster of the Moore County Philharmonic for 2 years. Read More

With Nerea's extensive experience, she is quickly able to adapt lessons to each student's learning style. She has taught music to over 4,000 students in different countries and languages and is quick to identify their strengths and weakness. She has created her own color coding method for students who are dyslexic and combines theory, ear training, visual aids, etc, to get students learning, quickly and efficiently. Open-minded and flexible, Nerea is always happy to try new methods and adapt new ideas. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Violin Saxophone Clarinet
I have a great breadth and depth of experience with instrumental music education. Clarinet has been my primary performance instrument, but I have found over the years that the techniques that I use to teach clarinet are easily and successfully transferable to the other instruments that I teach. Besides the clarinet, I also teach saxophone, guitar, violin and piano throughout the Colorado Springs area. Of course the differences have to do with embouchere, fingerings (which are similar to the clarinet), and tone production. Read More
