My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I encourage the student to see it , believe it and achieve all goals that can be set out to be accomplished. Practice on a daily basis is very necessary when gaining the passion for the chosen instrument. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. A typical lesson starts off with 2-3 scales for warm-ups, partially to get a feel for where our minds and bodies are for the day (because every lesson is different). My teaching style is flexible and aims to motivate the student to fall in love with playing and practicing on his or her own. At each lesson I will ask if there is something is particular that the student was troubled by during the previous week’s practicing and aim to solve that problem together. Eventually the student will learn how to problem solve during practicing. I encourage students to listen to many recordings of the works that they are learning to find inspiration. Read More
