My goal is to infuse the student with understanding but also wonder and awe as to how music is created. The first lesson with every student is always some sort of variation of getting to know each other, finding out what level the student is at, why they are taking lessons, what they want out of the lessons, etc. For any new student coming to me, no matter how advanced, I always start with a fresh slate with posture. I have had serious health issues in the past due to improper posture that my teachers never knew to correct until the damage had already been done, which is why proper body alignment is so important to me in my lessons with my students. To that end, though in the student's eyes it is not the most exciting part, we do learn those things. For students studying other instruments I frequently refer to the piano as it is the key to understanding music theory. My earliest experience teaching was as a music counselor at a summer festival called French Woods. During my two summers working there, I taught students of all ages and skill levels on tenor and bass trombone, including private lessons. At French Woods I learned that I loved helping young musicians grow. After obtaining my Masters Degree in 2020 I focused on music education, and I have worked as a teacher for more than two years. I am a musician, composer, teacher and author. I graduated from the NYC "Fame School"- Fiorello H. LaGuardia HS of Music and Art. I studied music theory and composition at Mannes Conservatory, NYC and received a BA as a Music Major from Aaron Copland School of Music/Queens College/CUNY. I took Graduate courses studying Special Ed/Music Therapy at Lehman College, NY. After in depth research with creating highly motivational music programs for all ages as well as for children that had ADD, Autism, or Aspergers, I was awarded a grant from the Grammy's to write a book.  I have traveled to Europe and the far east teaching creative music workshops.
