Many times students have videoed me playing pieces i teach so they have an example to watch/follow. I use Josephine Trott double stoo books 1 2. I use Yaakov Geringas's "Shifting~Thirty Studies For Young Violinists " .there are a couple scale books i use with my students. I have quite a collection of fiddle tunes, klezmeh tunes, Gypsy music and more i like to mix in with the classical music. I love to play with my students, but also acknowledge the intensity of sitting back, watching, listening and internalizing the student. I am keenly aware of time and intend to cover all that was given as the last lesson plan (home practice) while forming a new plan for the next lesson. I have been teaching private lessons for about 2 years, both for a company and privately. These lessons include beginner piano, voice, and violin. In my music therapy internship I have also had the experience of teaching adaptive piano, guitar, and ukulele lessons. Finally, while I am not yet board certified and cannot offer music therapy until next school year, I have over 1,000 hours of music therapy clinical experience in which I use musical activities to help clients achieve non-musical goals in the areas of cognition, emotion, physical abilities, communication, social skills and academics.
