I like to begin the first lesson by recognizing the students strengths by having them show me what they can accomplish on their own. There are specific books that I like to teach out of depending on the skill level so that needs to be addressed during the first lesson. Recognizing and building on strengths to me should come before criticising weaknesses. Those will be addressed as they come along and exercises with scales and etudes will be chosen for those weaknesses, but that does not mean that challenging music needs to be played each and every time so that the student has to struggle for greatness. My teaching style is flexible and fun! I love seeing students learn and develop a passion for music. While it is important to correct errors in order to be able to learn, i think it is equally if not more important to focus on a students accomplishments. Setting realistic goals is also important when working with students. I am a Venezuelan violinist who grew up in "El Sistema", which has let people learn to love music, and has given the opportunity to less resourceful kids to make music through dedication and team work. In 2002 I joined my city's orchestra, the "Ciudad Guayana" orchestra in Venezuela. I played both first and second violin throughout my 16 years of being there. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and want to continue to play the violin not just as a hobby! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and knowing the strength behind private lessons as opposed to group lessons only. I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More

As a senior in highschool, I was offered to teach beginning violin lessons at the homeschool co-op I was attending. Besides teaching the basics of the violin and beginner level music-playing, I gained experience in practicing efficient time management, lesson planning, and working with varying instruction approaches due to the age ranges of my students.
