I currently work as the violin instructor and coordinator for Pacific Symphony's Santa Ana Strings. have taught students from the ages of five to adults. My students hold a busy schedule with violin recitals and are also given the opportunity to participate in master classes. In addition, they are involved in their school orchestras, have toured Europe, been members of OCYSO, and my former student now teaches along side with me at Pacific Symphony's Santa Ana Strings. I use different book series, depending on the age and level of the student. For young students, I start with the little Mozarts book series, lesson books, and workbooks. For older students, I will either use Bastien or Alfreds lesson and workbooks. This is mixed with a classical and folk book. We also work on theory, and making sure we know our intervals. My teaching experience dates back to my freshman year of high school where I tutored a younger student through the Suzuki Method for the next 5-6 years until she went off to college out of state. I have taught part time through the Chicago Public Schools where I worked with two kindergarden aged students. That being the case, I create detailed plans for the students week as far as practice is concerned. There will be listenings on each weeks assignments, detailed notes so as to make sure the student has all the necessary information to best succeed during the week between lessons. I know everyone learns  at different speeds so making sure they are comfortable yet challenging is important to me.Being able to know when the student is enjoying and not making it a chore is a key to helping and encouraging a student learn. Watching them progress in their insturment is rewarding in of itself and nothing is more satisfying.
