Ive been teaching for the last four years and absolutely love it. Every student is so different and I love working with each student to approach music in a unique way, whatever their learning style may be. Since I have a broad background of performance in various instruments and styles, I think it is very important to support whatever musical interests my students have or wish to develop. To me, it is very important to really listen to what my student wants and figure out a way to help reach those musical goals together. Read More

I have always loved music. I write and create music everyday. When I graduated high school I earned a band scholarship which allowed me to play in many different genres of music. I played in Big Jazz bands, Small Jazz combos, and pit orchestras. I toured with the Pittsburg State University Jazz Band and played timpani and snare for The Pittsburg State University Syphonic band. All four years. Fast Forward, in 2001 I placed an original piece of music in a film called "Punks". Read More

My philosophy is to teach the student what they want to learn while including basic music theory. I feel it’s important they know what they are doing from the inside out and why. I plan performance opportunities for the students month. This gives each student a tangible goal to work toward. I emphasize that music is another language we can communicate with. Every time we practice we perfect our ability to communicate more fully. Read More

I've lived, taught, and performed around the world: after earning my bachelor of music in piano performance degree alongside my bachelor of music in horn performance degree in Kansas, I went to the New England Conservatory in Boston for my master's in horn. I was lucky to have received full scholarships for all my degrees. Read More

My private teaching began in the summer of 2007. I started with two students and have continued to teach every summer since. Once I graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in June of 2014, I have taught year-round. Most of my students are beginners, and it can be rewarding when I see how much they have improved over the months. With my more advanced students, I make sure that they stay interested in their instrument and ask them what they are interested in playing, as well as provide challenging pieces. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I usually start with technique exercises that will help develop the foundation of their playing. I do not introduce music notation usually until the fifth or sixth lesson. I believe that kids learn faster when they beginning learning by call and response or like many call imitation. By developing first the ability to listen and play by instinct a student can develop a stronger foundation in developing the beat and noticing high and low pitches. Read More
