I would approach teaching by making sure the student is comfortable with whatever i am showing them, and trying to adapt to whatever style makes them comfortable if necessary. Setting goals for the end of each lesson is important based on their skill level and how quickly they pick up the information. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a modified Suzuki method, starting with rote learning and eventually progressing to notated music. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
