I am a musician, an educator, and a lifelong learner who enjoys developing students' potential and watching them succeed at every musical challenge. I graduated from Bob Jones University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance, and went on to receive a Master of Music degree in Music History from the University of Hartford's prestigious Hartt School, graduating in 2015. Since my childhood, I have had the opportunity of participating in church music ministries, and now serve as congregational pianist and choir accompanist at Knotty Oak Baptist Church in Coventry, Rhode Island. I consider myself a laid back teacher who still has solid expectations. I understand that each student's feasible time commitment may be different and I would like to honor that. With that said, I expect my students to put time into their music, because that is the only way to make progress and to maximize their ultimate enjoyment of playing an instrument. I will set realistic weekly goals for each student, trying to balance their interests with my evaluation of what they need to work on to make the most progress. Read More

Technical exercises have many wonderful uses, but only when they are precisely selected or engineered for the learning path of the particular student. As a teacher, I feel that the student's personal curiosity and love for music must always remain at the center of any curriculum or practice plan. My lessons are all based on this conviction. I see it as my obligation and privilege to help students love what they learn and to learn what they love, and to do so with patience, generosity, and goodwill. Read More

I will be the first to admit I don't have a set method for teaching. However that is because I choose different methods based on the student. Every child, adult, teenager, etc learns at a different pace, has a different educational preference and I adjust myself to meet the needs of the student. Some will learn better by ear, others will learn through a traditional study of notes. I prefer my students to work hard but at their own pace and to teach them in a way that's beneficial to them and not myself. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time about 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of different styles of music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the drums, and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I cater each lesson to each individual students needs. The thing that I love about teaching private lessons is that each and every student is different. Whereas with group and classroom teaching, you try to make each student fit the mold, private students, I try to fit YOUR mold! What makes you tick? What is your passion? What drove you to want to learn your instrument? Who inspires you? I look forward to learning all these things and MORE about you! Read More

When I was in middle school I developed a strong passion for music performance and teaching. I went to a performing arts high school called The Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach Florida where I excelled in perforance on clarinet and saxophone. Knowing that I wanted to major in music the performing arts high school helped me very much. I attended The Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA, The Boston Conservatory in Boston, MA, and Boston University in Boston, MA. Read More
