Sarah, violin, has performed throughout North America, South America and Europe. An avid orchestral player, Sarah performs regularly in Manhattan’s most elite concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Merkin Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. Sarah currently holds the position of Assistant Concertmaster of Astoria Symphony, Principal Second Violin of One World Symphony, Assistant Principal Second Violin of Metro Chamber Orchestra, and Section Violin of Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, Distinguished Concerts International New York, Leora Chamber Orchestra (formerly known as the New York Chamber Virtuosi), Westchester Chamber Symphony, Mimesis Ensemble, Ubuntu-Shruti Orchestra, Ensemble 212, Ossia Symphony, Bronx Opera Orchestra, and Artemis Chamber Ensemble. Notable engagements include touring from 2009-2010 as Concertmaster of the Broadway North American Tour of Camelot, and performing in Mexico with Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas on the Mi Alma Mexicana tour, celebrating the 2010 Mexican Bicentennial. The CD released from that tour by Sony Classical went on to reach Platinum status on the U.S. Classical music charts, and was hailed by the New York Times as “unabashedly lush…A beautifully performed survey of works”. The POA orchestra went on to perform in 2010 for the President of Mexico on national television, and again in Mexico City’s Auditorio National, for a sold-out audience of 10,000 people. A Massachusetts native, Sarah earned her Masters degree in 2009 from Manhattan School of Music as a student of Curtis Macomber, and her Bachelor of Music degree in 2007 from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Marilyn McDonald. Sarah has played in master classes for Sylvia Rosenberg and Mark Steinberg, and performed with such esteemed conductors as Kurt Masur, Robert Spano, Sir Simon Rattle, and David Zinman. Sarah currently resides in New York City, where she enjoys freelancing and teaching. With fourteen years of experience as a violin teacher, Sarah enjoys working with children and adults of all ages. In her private violin studio, she nurtures students with all degrees of experience to hone their craft with patience, kindness, and enthusiasm. A Suzuki registered teacher and member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, Sarah has seen her beginning students progress while developing pride and enjoyment in regards to their playing. Her adult students benefit by integrating technique from the Galamian school, along with Carl Flesch, Josef Gingold, and Adolf Busch.
I am a full-time teacher of language arts, but still a life-long violinist. My musical background is classically based, but expands to all forms of music. I received my degree from Montclair State University, where Icontinued to study and participate in small chamber ensembles and solo engagements for public and private occasions. I continue to practice and study regularly, always looking to further my own abilities with the instrument(s), and greatly value those students who willingly wish to study.
My music backround goes back to my pre-teen days with a toy guitar and singing in front of my second grade class. Formal training began in junior high with the saxophone which continued through high school and my college years at Fairleigh Dickinson University. I became interested in the guitar and played with many groups and ensambles. Then became interested in the violin and fell in love with it. I have been playing for the past fifteen years and teaching for five. I played in NYC with the Open Music Emsemble and the Classical Fusion Chamber ensemble and am currently with the Somerset Valley Orchestra in NJ. I am also a solo performer portraying the Colonial Fiddler at events in at the VanHorne House in Bridgewater and at the Thursday Night Lights events in Flemington.
I am a caring, intuitive, and experienced musician and teacher. Small-group situations such as studio lessons or chamber music groups find me at my happiest and most fulfilled. I have premiered exciting new works at NYU's Tenri Center, at Stony Brook, Bennington College, Queens College's Aaron Copland School, the LI Composers Alliance, and my alma mater Indiana University. I especially enjoy varied religious settings, for example as concertmaster of the holiday orchestra at St. Martin of Tours in Amityville and cantor at Atikva Tsentr in Kiev.

We love adult students! We have adults who are complete beginners, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. The teachers in our network have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
When you choose in home lessons, you are choosing the most convenient way to add music to your life. By having the instructor come to your home you are saving time, money, and energy! Not only is this a convenient option for busy schedules, but it allows you to learn your instrument in the familiar, comfortable space of your own home.
Music shops that sell violins can usually also work out violin rentals. This is best for smaller, short-scale violins that are designed for small children. For adults, either used or new violins will work just fine. The only factor to keep in mind is that used violins are sometimes sold as-is, meaning it may not be in the best condition. The instructors in our network are familiar with good violin maintenance techniques and can be of assistance.
All students are different. That means all lessons will be different. Each teacher tailors their lesson plans around a student's specific needs and goals, while teaching them the most important aspects of their instrument. Students will learn how to read music and develop their own unique style all while practicing proper technique. No two lessons will be the same as everyone's progression is timed differently. If the student has a particular style or method they are looking to learn, Musika will match you with a teacher that will be able to accommodate those needs.
Our earliest recommended starting age for violin is 4, although exceptions can certainly be made for younger students who are capable of handling the strings properly and who have sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. A teacher can help you decide which size instrument to choose depending on the age and height of your child.

Laura is the kind of teacher you wish you had in all your studies: gracious, easy-going, light-hearted, yet behind the easy going exterior is an excellent musical mind with everything at her fingertips. I've had about 5 teachers in my life who count as really influential people, and Laura easily fits that category. She lets you be yourself so that you are fully present rather than old-school doctrinaire style, what I call "stiff as a German, sig-heil" teachers. She's the polar opposite. Brava, Laura! I am in my 60s and decided to get back into playing my guitar. I thought taking lessons would be a good way to formalize the endeavor. I did have some concern about whether working with a teacher would work out as I've behave only played for my own enjoyment for a long time. Peter and I have had a few lessons together and I am truly enjoying the experience. He is very supportive and flexible. We arrived at a three gold approach that is really working for me. We focus on developing a playlist, learning some of the more iconic tunes from leading artist that I would have a hard time learning on my own and developing some technical skills related to style and music theory. Now I look forward to my next lesson and am already playing better and enjoying the journey. Peter is a great teacher I'm lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

Bill has been a great teacher for both my 6 yr. old and my 8 yr. old. He is always on time, keeps them engaged, and gives them just enough of a challenge for the next week. They are both beginners, but I am surprised by how much they already know after just a month or so of lessons. Both kids are practicing willingly and look forward to lesson.

My son and I both take lessons with Micheal. My son started on the ukulele and recently started the guitar. He is excellent with children. Very patient and very intuitive to the child's ability. He is also an excellent teacher for adults. I had not touched my guitar in several years and in a couple months not only to I remember everything I forgot but I'm learning many new techniques and am a much better player than I've ever been.

Karleen has really turned it around for me. My previous teacher (not from Musika) had me feeling anxious, upset, and incapable...NOT the desired result! Karleen's method is clear, appropriate for my beginning level, and (best of all) actually lets me achieve some progress! I'm actually looking forward to my lessons now!

Angela is a phenomenal teacher. She is full of charisma and is a joy to work with. Most of my experience with her has been focused on working in the Alexander Technique and she seems very knowledgeable in this study. I would highly recommend her to any prospective student. I have seen myself improve dramatically in a few short weeks with her guidance (and much practice of course!)

Kevin was such a fun, smart and innovative voice teacher to work with. I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him for over a year and I couldn’t have been more pleased with my time under his training. In just a few weeks I noticed my voice was stronger and I was able to apply his teaching and see the results. He explains his techniques in a way that the student is able to actually hear and feel the changes he is referring to. This allows the student to efficiently practice outside of lessons. Even further, he believed in me and truly cared about my progress. He was always energetic and focused in lessons and was continually surprised how far a song could come in just one hour of his time. Under his teaching I developed a stronger belt in my higher range, learned how to color my voice for different sounds and improved my stage presence. I wholeheartedly trust Kevin’s musical insight and was grateful that he challenged me with a wide variety of songs and styles that I hadn’t considered trying before.

Eduard is an amazing teacher. (Coming from someone who previously knew the basics of playing and music.) He is not to harsh with his words and is extremely nice. Eduard has a great amout of experience and displays it through his teachings. Specifically by making it easy to follow along with his words to actions. As a person with a wondering mind whom is distracted easily, it is easy to pay attention.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
