Daniel is a Korean-American conductor and violinist from San Francisco, California. He began his journey as a conductor at the age of 16, when he was selected as Assistant Conductor of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, in which he also served as concertmaster. Daniel continued his music education with a Bachelors Degree in Violin Performance at New England Conservatory and upon its completion in 2016, he began his Masters Degree in Conducting at the same institution in 2017. During my masters degree I studied Suzuki pedagogy. While I don't follow the method exactly, I do incorporate much of the philosophy into my own teaching. With beginners, I prefer to teach the violin by ear so that my students can focus on their technique rather than reading music, while developing strong listening skills that are important for playing any instrument in any style. Once a student has grasped the fundamentals of violin, I begin to introduce music reading and solo repertoire appropriate to their level. Read More

I adapt the lesson to the student to find how they will learn best. I encourage creativity and challenge students to try composing their own music.
