2012 & 2014  - Performed with Willamette Falls Symphony Orchestra as a violin soloist after winning a concerto competition.

Overview:
I have been teaching violin and strings over 20 years. I like to teach students as individuals and create a practice program for them according to their personal goals. I am supportive and want to help each student to find their highest potential. I think that both the process of learning and the end goal are important. I like to balance musical enjoyment and technical training. I like to see the students making new musical and technical discoveries each week. I encourage them to set goals such as performing in quarterly student recitals and to consider taking part in a Syllabus program that has advancing yearly goals. I use the Suzuki method especially with the younger students and encourage parents to become effective home teachers through weekly coaching and printed materials.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching violin and strings over 20 years. I have been teaching at Palo Alto school district, Gorin School of Music, Marylhurst University Suzuki Violin program, Alliance Charter Academy and Lewis & Clark College next to my private strings studio. I have years experience in teaching various ages and levels. I accept students as young as 3 yrs old and teach also grown ups. I teach school children and teenagers having more serious musical goals in mind. Some of my students are already studying privately with me for a teaching profession.
METHODS USED
I teach using the classical and/or Suzuki method. I studied the Suzuki method at Marylhurst University and took a summer Suzuki teacher training camps in Oregon. I have also received classical training as a violin soloist and orchestra musician. I look forward to teaching all ages.  I create short and long term study goals together with my students to keep practice motivaation high. Typically my students play scales and exercises, etudes, short solo pieces and longer selections like concertos and sonatan.
LESSON STYLE
I encourage my students to find their highest potential, starting students as early as 3 years old. I like to see my students making good progress through daily practice and by leading them gradually to more and more advanced stages. One of my goals is to teach them not to compare themselves with other students but to do their own personal best. I like to teach all ages. I teach all levels of violin, beginner through intermediate in viola, and beginning level in cello, guitar and ukulele. I want to see that my students make progress in encouraging atmosphere both in technical and musical areas.

We've only had a few lessons with Elisa, but so far we really like her. She has a lot of great suggestions for solo pieces as well as orchestral music that involves all 3 of my boys, while also including some Christian music that we can play at church. She is very patient in explaining the lessons and encouraging!
