I have been teaching for close to 30 years and enjoy the challenge of working with students of all ages, levels, strengths, and styles. I have taught violin, music theory, chamber music, and repertoire throughout my career. I have been teaching privately and in group classes for the past 6 years. This past summer, I taught a chamber orchestra of kids ages 6-12 in Narni, Italy. It was a truly rewarding experience. Most of my experience is with teaching private lessons. I am open to teaching all ages and levels. For violin, I teach mostly beginners and intermediate students, but can teach all levels for viola. I have been teaching consistently since the summer of 2013, working with students of all ages and ability. Although I specialize in violin performance and pedagogy, I have also spent a significant amount of time teaching piano, music theory, and harmony. I believe that consistent practice, alongside warm encouragement and motivation is the key to any kind of success when teaching music. Over the years, I have learned that teaching violin and music does not have to be done solely on the instrument, and I like to spend time developing a strong sense of harmony and rhythm by playing small practice games throughout a lesson- especially with children.
