I have been teaching young trumpeters since I began my undergraduate career four years ago. I have helped middle school and high school students advance in their own playing career. I love learning about how each student learns, and I've always challenged myself to plan accordingly. My students have been honored not only in their own band programs, but also in Georgia All State Band and DCI. Each child is different so with careful evaluation of their specific needs and abilities, I decide on which approach would best fit that student. As soon as it is appropriate, I also begin teaching fundamentals like scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, and supplemental technical training (Hanon exercises, for example).
