In 2001, I graduated from Russian Academy Of Music in Moscow with a Masters Of the Arts degree in Trumpet Performance. At the onset, I believe that hand position is incredibly important, so I make sure to pick exercises and etudes that reflect that importance. After that, I like to move onto the Faber series so that students can have exposure to a bunch of different styles, including jazz, classical, rock and pop. Seeing a student excel and reach their goals is the most rewarding experience a teacher can have. Everyone works at a different speed, and I expect each student to do the best they can do. I do not believe in forcing a "one size fits all" teaching method on every student. My love for teaching began as a peer tutor in college. I tutored students in piano, guitar, bass ear training, and music theory. I began to love teaching when I noticed the change and progress it creates within people. While in college, I taught at a musical theatre camp as a music teacher. I taught music theory, ear training, and vocal music. Right after I graduated college I was accepted into the music education program at Teachers College Columbia University where I received my masters degree in music education along with certification in New York state to teach Pre-K through 12.
