I'm a passionate and motivated teacher who loves to work with students and share my love of music. I will be graduating from The Juilliard School with a Bachelors in Music this May! My primary teaching philosophy is one of showing by example. Book learning is excellent and necessary and I use an assortment of standard materials and literature to assign lessons. I am especially fond of the teaching method of Laurie Frink and John McNeil and their joint manual "Flexus" and the basic Carmine Caruso embouchure studies literature. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs, whether it's beginner, intermediate or advanced student. Read More

I have two main philosophies I base my teaching method on, regardless of age, skill level, or genre. 1) Fundamentals are extremely important, and 2) Music is an aural experience. To expand on my first point; a tree is only as strong as its roots. If a player has a strong understanding of the building blocks of music, the sky is the limit. For nearly all of my students, I start with Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet so that I can truly understand the students level of understanding of music and also get a grasp of their playing technique. From there, I will branch out to find something that suits both the students ability as well as their interests. Since 2014, I have maintained a large studio of trumpet students ranging from 30-50 students per week. Many of my former students have gone on to all-state and all-area competitions, as well successfully auditioning into various college music programs. I believe the key to success for brass playing is fundamentals. Without a solid foundation on your instrument, it is incredibly difficult to further your progress.
