I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I find that young musicians make the most progress when playing for and with other people. I aim to make lessons fun and engaging and put a strong emphasis on playing duets. I begin by assessing each student's level, as well as their needs and desires, and then form a plan of action to address those needs. If the student has deficiencies in a specific area I usually try to tackle this first, especially if it affects their overall ability to make a good sound, articulate efficiently, or play with ease.
