I have over 10 years of professional playing and teaching experience in a variety of genres. Throughout the years I have maintained a private lesson studio of students of all ages and levels. I am a passionate educator dedicated to cultivating both technical excellence and creative self-expression in the next generation of musicians. Committed to inspiring students through innovative pedagogy, individualized mentorship and a deep understanding of brass performance. It is my mission to foster a supportive and inclusive studio environment where students feel safe and inspired to take risks, embrace imperfections, and grow as artists, educators, and individuals.
For beginning students I use essential elements and elementary cornet methods. As students progress to more intermediate level I begin introducing the Arbans, Clarke, and method books from Stamp and Schlossberg. These methods are a great gateway into advanced playing and contain methods for intermediate to advanced players. As students become more advanced I introduce more difficult method books and challenging solo and etude books such as Sachse, Charlier, Glantz and St.Jacome. All books and solos are engaging and fun for all students, I make sure to be attentive to each individual students need and interests in order to keep students engaged while maximizing their capabilities and challenging them.
As a music educator, my teaching style extends far beyond the technical mastery of the instrument. While I believe that strong fundamentals are crucial, I also place great emphasis on nurturing the creativity, individuality, and personal growth of each student. Music is a deeply personal and expressive art form, and my goal is to not only help students develop as skilled musicians but also to encourage them to embrace their own unique voice as performers and human beings. My goal is to equip each student with the necessary tools to become the best versions of themselves as people, musicians, educators, and creatives. The skills we learn studying music, such as accountability, time management, team collaboration, perseverance and communication are extremely valuable skills vital in virtually every facet of life. I am committed to creating an environment where students feel safe, inspired and confident to explore their own creativity, to connect with the music and their own lives, and to foster a lifelong appreciation of music that will travel with them long after they leave my studio.
