Instead of fighting for the kids attention, I transcribed the Angry Birds theme and had them learn it by ear. I am not a fan of "rote learning" so my lessons tend to include a large amount of cognitive thinking by me constantly asking questions and making you pay attention to your own playing habits. I'm a quietly passionate instructor motivated by my love of music and my students. In 2016, I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a Minor in Music. As an undergrad, I often found my love of music creeping into my major coursework-- including my thesis! I've loved practicing and performing for over a decade (which is also more than half of my life!). From receiving my very first "Band Student of the Month" award in the fifth grade to helping soon-to-be-fifth graders achieve that goal themselves, I cannot express how much I love this instrument and the opportunities it has provided. Since that time, I has also served as visual Consultant for several high schools in California and in Utah. In 2007, I took a position with the Blue Devils C Drum and Bugle Corps as Visual Concept and Marching Instructor as well as a Brass Hornline Instructor. I also served as Marching and Visual Concept Instructor for the Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010, helping them win their second DCI World Champion title, the DCI Open Class Visual Performance and General Effect Titles as well as the DCI Fan Network Choice Award.
