My musical background began when at 7 yrs. old I was playing the piano with my mothers instruction. I became a self taught student in brass and piano and later was accepted as a Music major to West Chester University. During HS I became known as a trumpet soloist in Regional and State Bands and in the Salvation Army brass program a cornet soloist. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and find enjoyment! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace with fun. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Basic note identification exercises along with simple chords to get students started. After that, we'll dive into the pentatonic scale, and start to put the chords to actual songs. Trumpet - In the beginning, simply getting a sound on trumpet can be a challenge. Once that's accomplished, we'll start on basic etudes and technical exercises out of the Arban book. I began teaching in 2012 as a senior in high school working at a community music school's summer arts camp in New York. I worked there for five summers as an assistant instructor. I taught beginner and intermediate French horn and trumpet lessons while working there. Many of my students, both at the camp and in my private studio have gone on to make District Bands and Honor Ensembles. I was the brass instructor at a sleep away arts camp in the summer of 2016 where I taught brass ensemble, wind ensemble, jazz band and a chamber ensemble class. Read More
