I started teaching in high school and then decided to pursue degrees in performance and music education. At UNH I taught lessons part time for four years. I always put students needs and schedules first and met them either in my studio or at their home. I encourage all of my students to practice at home using techniques that are effective. I engage my students each lesson, ensuring they are constantly improving as well as enjoying their musical experience. It is my duty as an educator to pass my love of music onto my pupils. My students are of all ages and skill levels. I encourage them to enter competitions and recitals, train their ears, learn about music history, and have musical intentions whenever they play. I will help my students to achieve any level of playing. Read More

My teaching style is very "go with the flow." Each day is a new opportunity to learn a little more about music and your chosen instrument. Each lesson is a time where we can delve deeply into one piece of music, or jump around to several different topics. Of course, there is always room for structure and I make sure that we stay on track! There are so many different aspects of each instrument to cover, but there no need to get bogged down with complicated acronyms and over complex methodology. Read More

Immediately I'd like to know why the student is pursuing the given instrument, then sort of gauge a level of passion, drive, talent, etc. and then work from there. With guitar and piano there are several routes one could choose for performance, and each one has different teaching fundamentals. Someone who gravitates more toward Jazz will need a very strong base in musical theory, where as someone who wants to play classical might need stronger technical work. Read More

Having a comfortable, supportive environment for private lessons is very important to me. Nothing is worse than being scared of your private instructor! I like to create a warm environment for my students where they feel safe taking musical risks. I definitely believe in goal setting with my students. Knowing things that they would like to accomplish in one lesson, 4 lessons, 8 lessons etc. is a great way to keep students motivated. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2001, I graduated from Russian Academy Of Music in Moscow with a Masters Of the Arts degree in Trumpet Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Allice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as touring the world and performing major Jazz Festivals such as Montreal Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival and many more. My teaching experience begins back in High School when I was the leader of the brass section of my high schools marching band. I needed to help my fellow students succeed. I have also had many opportunities to help Dolan Middle School in their parades over the years. From these experiences, I am able to fix all types of instruments as well as I’m able to give advice on how to fix sound and play different types of brass instruments. Read More

When I'm working with a student, I want to know everything I can about them as a person; this will inform their growth as a musician, artist and music lover. I am to set realistic expectations for my students, aiming not to frustrate but to celebrate every step taken. In the end, if students can teach themselves and want to learn more about their instrument or any sort of music, I feel like I've done my job. Read More
