I have been teaching trumpet since 2008 where I have been giving private, in home instruction. All of my students take part in the NYSSMA festival and annually score at the top of their class. Some students have made it into the SCMEA, NYSCAME, and All-State Festivals. I am a trained classical trumpeter and I am proficient on the Bb, C, Eb, A piccolo, G Bugle, and Flugelhorn trumpets. Next, I observe the student's playing, in an attempt to determine where the gaps are in their development. Teaching has been a regular part of my life since my undergraduate days. At the University of Idaho, I had the opportunity to be a Learning Assistant for freshman music theory, aural skills, and jazz theory; a position that involved more actual teaching than the typical teaching assistantship. At this time, I also ran a private studio with around a dozen trumpet students.
