I began teaching private music lessons in college in 2003. I have been teaching lessons consistently for the last 10 years from my home studio, online, as well as traveling to the students' home. I find great pleasure in hearing a student's progress, that's why I encourage recording their practice and having a consistent practice schedule. I feel it is important to give positive reinforcement and feedback to students. I am always excited to bring on new students of many different age groups! I believe it is important to keep the lesson interesting to the student by incorporating music for technique but also songs that the student enjoys playing. For the beginning student, I begin with the fundamentals of breathing and application to the first tone. I spend the first three to four lessons developing good habits of proper air and tone production. Following this, I begin with using the approved method book that correlates with the instruction that the student is receiving at school. Admittedly limited, my teaching experience started when I was in High School when I became the marching Band's trumpet section leader. I really enjoyed sharing my knowledge and experience with otherswatching people grow in their musicianship is an incredible reward for me and I'd love to experience it more in my life!
