A Texas native, Clynt grew up exposed to a variety of music. The southern influence of blues, gospel, country, and jazz were a huge part of his musical upbringing. While his formal training was largely in classical music for many years, he also remembers learning his first tunes note-by-not from his father (a jazz and country musician) in their living room in Texas when he was not out of elementary school. Having experienced both formal and informal training methods all of his life, he is adept at providing either - or any ratio - of the two to a student in need. Read More

As a performing professional Musician who is continually learning, I would like to pass-on what I have gained throughout numerous years of Musical experiences. Having graduated with degrees from Manhattan School of Music, and from The Juilliard School, I "incorporate" Music Theory, Sight-reading and Ear Training as essential dimensions of my lessons, with the addition of playing Duets. Having performed under the direction of the world's most renown conductors [including Leanard Bernstein] and with Musicians, along with having studied with the finest instrumentalists are highlights of my career, along with having played Principal Trombone in the Norwalk Symphony for more than 16 years, having substituted on Broadway, and traveled with two International touring companys' Broadway Show productions. First and foremost, learning any musical instrument should be a fun experience. With this in mind, each person's lesson is subjective and progresses according to the student's learning style; a beginning 5 yr old student's lesson will look much different that a beginning 14 yr old student's lesson. Each student will learn repertoire from a lesson book, solo repertoire and anything else that they may express interest in. As a student progresses, their repertoire will naturally become more challenging . Read More

I believe in the "dichotomy" of learning at ones own natural pace, combined with the need to cover all of the rudiments required for building the firm physical and musical foundation required for brass playing. My style and approach in lessons is to be encouraging, upbeat, enthusiastic and to always emphasize the enjoyment and fun that can be attained through good "old fashioned" hard work: Gratification that comes from appying yourself is the most fun of all - especially as you realize your goals! I use a wide variety of old and new methods for trumpet. The fundementals are without a doubt very important and crucial to playing trumpet. As we work on these techniques I will be assiging trumpet solo repertoire which will apply many if not all of the fundemental trumpet techinques. Incorporating other material a student would like to learn outside of regular trumpet repretoire is important to me was well. Read More

My methods vary from student to student. I believe strongly in making sure students are learning what they want to learn and adapting to every students needs! While I will employ different techniques with each student, I do tend to use several concepts universally. I like to use a Kodly based system to teach all styles of music. All music is taught through internalization by listening and analyzing and then emulation of what is heard. Read More

I believe that my style is really flexible. I think that everybody has a different way to learn so my style will vary based on the student. I also believe that the role of the teacher should the one of facilitating the student process but ultimately is the student who should dictate the style and the pace of the lesson. I believe also that listening is a really important part of music learning so I have my student listening to a lot of different music and also I play with them all the time so that they can hear and feel what is it to play together.
