I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Cali School of Music, I began performing throughout the tri-state area as a hired musician. While immersed in the multiple ensembles offered at school, I would also be involved in studio recording sessions, hired by artists and composers of various genres. Effective music education is both developmentally and culturally appropriate: By working with the student to understand their interests, I hope to provide them with an experience that will enrich their musical and social life outside of the work we do together. Through infancy, I believe Music Learning Theory is effective for developing musical and linguistic skills. If a student in toddlerhood/childhood shows that they have a preferred way to express themselves musically, I will tailor lessons around the Kodaly (voice), Orff (instrumental), or Dalcroze (dance) philosophies. I was born in Newark New Jersey in 1948 and began a life long love affair with the Trumpet at the age of three and a half years old. By the age of twelve I was performing in local clubs and was exposed early on to Newark Jazz greats such as Sarah Vaughn, Wayne Shorter, Woody Shaw and Larry Young. For the past 4 years, I have been at Seton Hall University studying to become proficient in Contemporary Trumpet and to possess solid skills in the collection of all other brass and woodwind instruments in order to teach music. I am fully qualified and most of my teaching experience comes from my students and teaching music within my church. While student teaching I taught all instrumental music classes for grades 8 9.I also collaborated on curriculum and exam development, met with students upon request, graded all written work and oral playing tests, and created lesson plans. My teaching experience begins back in High School when I was the leader of the brass section of my high schools marching band. I needed to help my fellow students succeed. I have also had many opportunities to help Dolan Middle School in their parades over the years.
