I continued to teach music at that same sleep away camp for years -- eventually becoming the Head of the Music Department ( Rock Shop) there - coaching bands, leading improv classes, and developing the program. I later enjoyed several years teaching as an adjunct professor in the music department at my alma mater. I have always had a steady practice of private students ranging in ages and experience. The most rewarding thing for a teacher is seeing the student progress, does not matter to me if it's perfect! Music takes time and practice and it's very much like a painting. You are not gonna be done in a whole day, you add a little everyday. I only ask my students to set aside 15-30 minutes a day to practice.
