I am a versatile trombonist who has experience in many musical ensembles. These include orchestral, concert band, brass quintet, jazz band, jazz combo, brass band, and Marine Corps Band settings. I also have a studio where I teach trombone, euphonium, and tuba players. I regularly perform in the Northern Virginia and Maryland area at church services, with orchestras, and with big bands. I supplement some of the things in the book with other literature and hand written exercise to help enhance learning experience. For Adults I try to find what genre and music style they would like to work on. In the first lesson, I assess the student's current ability and also discuss the student's personal goals and interests in music. Based on this information, I create a daily fundamentals routine for the student to use to improve the basic building blocks of playing a musical instrument. I also allow students to bring in music that interests them from solo material and pieces of music from band class. Approximately half of the weekly lesson is spent on fundamental materials that I assign weekly, and the other half is spent on the student's chosen material. Read More
