Trombone Lessons in Temperance, MI

Instruments: Trombone

My biggest goal in teaching students of all walks of life is fostering a life long appreciation and love for music. When I was growing up and learning trombone I found myself removing the emotional parts of creating beautiful music from the instrument and found making music to be a boring part of my day. This taught me a lot about how learning an instrument and the music that comes along with it should be a highlight of one's day. Read More

My teaching experience stems back to high school. When I was 14 I was recognized for my talent to help members of the Jr high and beginner band classes. Then when I was attending Miami University, I started my own studio of three high school trombone students; I did that for 2 years. Since then I have taught at dozens of band camps all across Ohio, I have taught in BGSUs Academy Band from 2017-2018, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestras Youth Wind Ensemble from 2014-2016. I can suggest a method book that I use for my students, or I can work in the existing method book of a student, if that is what he or she prefers. Lessons should be a combination of fundamental musical skills and other types: such as band music being worked on, solo pieces for competitions, and music chosen simply for enjoyment. Read More

Being a music education student, I learn about many methods of teaching that can cater to a variety of different people and musicians. I typically like to create practice sheets, so that progress can be tracked over time. Assessments will be based on effort, and minor improvements over a long period of time, as music takes a lot of patience and time to really improve!
