I believe in approaching each student individually. Each student's ability and/or understanding, no matter the level, may very, sometime drastically. So I tend to each student's individual needs on a case-by-case basis. I have always loved sharing knowledge with others. I especially love sharing my musical knowledge with others. I want people to have fun making music and I believe the way to do that is to find creative ways to make practice interesting. But making music is also about creating relationships so I encourage my students to take advantage of the ways that performing music opens new doors and creates avenues for new friendships. Read More

Collaborative--I like to inspire students with the potential sound of this beautiful instrument--the trombone is unlike any other instrument, and the success or failure depends on the internal drive students are willing to apply. I am uniquely able to expose them to not just recordings, but live, working examples of great trombone players. Read More

I am a creative, passionate trombonist, composer, arranger, and teacher who enjoys just about any aspect of music. I graduated from Stetson University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance, and was recently accepted to the University of Central Florida's Master of Arts program, focusing on trombone performance and music theory. So far, I have performed on alto, tenor, or bass trombone in Florida All-State orchestras, the 2007 Honor Orchestra of America, and nearly every possible large and small ensemble at Stetson University, as well as with the Youth Brass Band of Central Florida and the Southern Winds. Ultimately, my goal is to instill music as an intricate part of all of my students' lives. It is important for students to form an appreciation for music while also creating their own identity in the art. Read More

My brass teaching method is based on correct breathing, posture and tone development. I believe a beautiful tone is the most important product we have to offer. Embouchure development comes with careful, purposeful practice in all ranges and at all dynamic levels. I also emphasize sight reading as an aid to becoming a well-rounded musician. Building personal confidence is one of the best ways to overcome performance anxiety. The method books I use are written by outstanding brass musicians such as Max Schlossberg, J. Read More
