I am a driven performer, as well as an inspired instructor who learns just as much from his students as they do from him. In 2014, I graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz/Commercial Trombone Performance. I have toured all over the country playing in many different bands, allowing me to experience many things in life that I never would have without music. I enjoy performing in both the Jazz/Commercial world, and the Classical world. Read More

I love the fact that I can travel to so many amazing places and meet and reconnect with friends and colleagues while on this journey, and discussing new ways to expand my knowledge on teaching and performing, is something that has made my teaching style as unique as it is! My teaching is student-centered. Teacher demonstration leads the way for any student on any instrument. Students are encouraged to set long-term goals and short-term goals. Students are encouraged to be stakeholders in their own development and their own future. Students are encouraged to listen to as many other artists as possible. Success is not a point of arrival, but a process. My experience at the Peabody Institute prepared me as a performer and as a teacher. Read More

Trombone: Practice, practice, practice! The trombone is an extremely unforgiving instrument and this is why the words practice need to be repeated many times every lesson. The student needs to understand that in order to get any enjoyment out of playing the trombone they need to practice regularly. Once the student has a regular practice schedule, then their sound will improve and they will enjoy playing. There can be almost no progress at all until the student finds regular practice time to work on their trombone exercises. Read More

I'm most comfortable working with beginner to intermediate students, ages 7-11. Subsequently, based upon the assessment results, I will provide my students with a series of warm-up exercises designed to support proper posture, breathing and the overall handling of their respective instrument for every session . Each session and lesson plans are customized for my students, and will be scheduled as followed: 5 minutes - Greeting and Warm-Up Exercise(s); 10 minutes - Modeling/ Recap and Collaborative Instruction of Core Skill(s); 10 minutes - Independent Application Recording Assessment of Core Skill(s); 5 minutes - Critiquing of Core Skill(s) Wrap-Up Activity.
