Every student is an individual with individual weaknesses in different areas. There is no blanket lesson plan that works for all students. Your child can't always be expected to advance in a teaching system that is the same for everyone. We are as individual as our structural makeup. I'm good at listening for such physical stresses and soft points, and building them up. Some students are hindered by areas they need to work on while being very strong in other areas. Read More

As I focus on the musical needs and interests of my students, I strive to create life-long musicians. My lessons are structured into activities that incorporate various aspects of music appreciation: Music theory, music history, music technology, performance practice, etc. (making such lessons comprehensive). Typically, we begin with a repertoire of warm-up exercises custom-tailored to your instrument but also for your current skill level and learning style (as created by me). Read More

For older students, especially high schoolers, I like to use a blue book called Foundations for Superior Performance (Warm-Ups and Technique for Band) by Richard Williams and Jeff King as the techniques in that book are more suited for what a high school-level player should be expected to play. As for adults, I recommend Brass Gym as well as books from made by university professors and other professional instrumentalists. Moving beyond warm-ups and technique mastery, I like to find different solos that appropriately challenge and help hone on a skill that my student is focusing on working on. Read More
Instruments: Trombone Euphonium Tuba Music
For Beginner, I usually use Hal Leonard's Essential book for younger students and Rubank's elementary book for older students. These books can use up to intermediate students and some easy solo pieces from the trombone gems collection by H.A. VanderCook. For intermediate to advanced students playing trombone for more than two years, I would use Melodious Etudes for Trombone Selected from the Vocalises of Marco Bordogni book one and Arban Complete Method for Trombone and Euphonium. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages! Read More

Beginners are started using a Essential Elements or a book similar to this one. It has been a successful and useful tool for beginners. Beginners to advanced players will work on technique, range studies, musical styles and solo repertoire. Student interests are an integral part of what is studied in the lesson. Each lesson is specifically tailored for that student. Read More
