I am a passionate instructor looking to teach my knowledge of trombone to any and all students. In May, 2018 I graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a BA in Music Business. For four years I took lessons with James Erdman, retired Marine Band first chair trombone, and performed in over 4 ensembles every semester. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, especially for brass instruments. I also tend to mix in some fun songs that are more well known using my own arrangements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

For beginner students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book. For more advanced students I love using Rochut Melodious Etudes and Arban's Method book. For all students, learning and being comfortable with all scales and keys is an essential fundamental skill I teach. In general, I am open to students bringing material they wish to work on, as long as they are progressing with fundamentals at an appropriate level. Read More

I'm adamant about learning exercises from the "Arbans Book". This book is essential the brass bible that teaches proper fundamental techniques while developing reading skills. We will extensively on flexibility and scales through out all stages of development as well as intonation on the instrument. I am also really detailed about developing ear training to identify notes with out use of music and vice versa. A complete musician can both read and use his trained ear. Read More

I look to be sure that each student enjoys the material as well as music as a whole. Therefore, each student should be able to progress at their own pace. As a student progresses, I do have an admittedly bad habit of speeding up material a bit too much, so I encourage all students to let me know when something is too much for them. As i look to select material, I like to do a 5 minute test run of the piece to ensure that students enjoy the material before assigning it. Read More
