Overview:
Hello! My name is Hayden A., and I am a trombone teacher seeking students of all ages and abilities who have a passion for music and look to advance their skills and musicianship. Currently, I am a graduate Trombone Performance major at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and plan on graduating in the Spring of 2021. I study with Normal Bolter, former trombonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and founding member of the Empire Brass Quintet. I earned my undergraduate degree in Trombone Performance from the Boyer College of Music at Temple University where I studied with Matthew Vaughn, Co-Principal Trombone of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching privately for over 5 years, having teaching studios in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. In addition, I was a trombone lesson teacher at Paul R. Baird Middle School in Ludlow, MA for 2 years. I am an extremely devoted and passionate instructor with a great love of music and teaching. The type of student who tends to succeed the most with me are the ones who have a true love of music and wish to improve and learn on a daily basis. I am capable of teaching a wide range of abilities, so no matter where you are on your musical path I am confident I can help you achieve your goals.

METHODS USED
For beginner students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book. For more advanced students I love using Rochut Melodious Etudes and Arban's Method book. For all students, learning and being comfortable with all scales and keys is an essential fundamental skill I teach. In general, I am open to students bringing material they wish to work on, as long as they are progressing with fundamentals at an appropriate level. When studying with me, students will learn to be organized and deliberate with their practice which will include keeping a daily practice log, as well as a journal to write assignments and reflections.

LESSON STYLE
My teaching philosophy is based on the 'Art of the Student' mindset, which emphasizes a positive, individualized, and constructive approach to teaching. I believe that each and every student is unique and requires an individual approach dependent on their learning styles, and their own goals and ambitions. I also believe that as a teacher it is my duty to help each student figure their individual goals if the student does not yet have a clear understanding. I teach from a fundamental based standpoint with an emphasis on developing a strong sense of pitch, rhythm, and musicality.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
