I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. I always encourage doing a recital, entering competitions, and continuing on to college playing their instrument. I love motivating students and challenging them to be the best and nothing less. I started teaching in band camp the summer after my first year of college and have continuously worked with several schools in KY. I have given lessons to students who are just starting out and high school students preparing for auditions and/other performances. I highly encourage students to start taking lessons as early as possible to establish good habits and break bad ones. My goal for any of my students is always to learn as much as possible and to do their best. Read More

My teaching philosophy is "exploration as a road to mastery." I help students build a repertoire they can perform. This tends to be a combination of songs they know and love, and songs that I introduce them to. I introduce the elements of music theory in relation to songs. Scales, harmony, and ear training are grasped better, and enjoyed more, once a student has context. My goal is to have each student feel safe in the learning process, while still pushing them out of their comfort zone. Read More

As a parent, I understand the importance of building up from foundations, and I illustrate that same dedication as I would with my own children through teaching music. I know that everyone learns at different paces, different styles, different ways. My goal is to individualize each musical teaching experience that best serves each student's needs. I meet students at their personal level, and we build from there. That allows for students to not only feel comfortable with the expectations set, but it allows for them to feel as if they can meet goals. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2023, I graduated from The University of Utah with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play both at the Avery Fischer and Carnegie Halls in New York, as well as the All Saints Church in Rome and Temple Bar in Dublin.
