My teaching experience dates back to 1995, I have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 25 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Although my collegiate educational background is not primarily in music, I have vast knowledge of music theory, and understand that each student has individual needs. My biggest method that has the most success, no matter the subject of training is "I Do, We Do, You Do". When teaching a new musical concept, it is most important for a student to have an understanding of the principle. I would explain the concept, and give an example by demonstrating the concept (I Do), however many times the student needs me to do so, and they would practice the concept with me (We Do), and once they feel comfortable trying the concept on their own, I would have them demonstrate the concept for me until mastery is achieved (You Do). In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist. I have had the chance to perform and record in some of Nashville's most historic venues and recording studios. As a guitarist I have experience performing professionally with acoustic, electric, and classical (nylon) guitars, as well as banjo, mandolin, 12-string guitar, b-bender guitar, and ukulele. In Nashville, I have worked as a sideman and "hired-gun" with various songwriters, performing for both live and recorded music. He also works as a recording engineer, producer, and studio musician on several instruments.
