I'm a licensed teacher that enjoys sharing my passion for music. In December 2016, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. Performing as part of Cedar Creek Community Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra Pit has given me a variety of experiences to inform my teaching. This has taught me much of the psychology of music and performance. Each student has their own personal goals for their exploration of music. Read More

I like to structure my lessons to cover three main areas of saxophone playing: tone development, fundamental technique, and musical interpretation through repertoire. I like to get to know my students, and in this way create an individualized learning plan based on their needs and interests. I believe it is important to create a learning environment where the student succeeds and enjoys making music. As a result, my students become leaders in their school bands and develop confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. Read More

I love to see kids progress in music and become excited about it!! My teaching style is very paced and hands on. If a student isn't getting something, I like to slow it down until they they do. I'm very complimentary and positive during lessons; this helps the student be confident. I also try to give the student a guideline on how to practice and how to pace themselves throughout this process. Read More

Currently licensed as a substitute teacher and a paraprofessional (teacher's aide), I have much experience in a classroom setting and assisting elementary through high school students. I have held both licenses for over 5 years. I also have previous experience as the coordinator for an after school program through Chicago Public Schools, which I was employed by, and running the program as well. A lot of the program consisted of individually assisting/tutoring students from elementary through high school. Read More

There is a secret to becoming a great player, and that is to never stop taking lessons and playing music. Most people that you think are amazingly talented has practiced 10,000 hours on their instruments or more. I started lessons on piano and saxophone when I was 9 yeas old and took lessons until I graduated high school. I continued studying music formally in college and on my own. It's a lifelong journey. Ive been teaching saxophone and piano lessons professionally for the last 7 years, and have had students go on to play for the Utah All-State Jazz Band and have earned several scholarships. I encourage regular practicing and give weekly assignments that include rudiments, transcription projects, and listening assignments. I focus on the jazz language and how its been applied to modern genres like hip hop, funk, and RnB. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn.
