I work with Rubank or any method books provided by their band instructor. There will be supplemental materials, especially for more advanced students, that are instrument specific such as etudes and technical exercises. We will continue focusing on band literature, contemporary, classical, or solo literature depending on the goals of the students and their interests. While there are some general methods, it is best to meet the student where their needs are and tailor the specific methods to those needs. Read More

I am a recent college graduate who specializes in classical saxophone, but has experience in all genres including jazz and rock. I have taught private lessons for several years, and my students have achieved the highest honors at regional and state festivals. Recently, I performed as featured soloist with the Minot Symphony Orchestra, playing Jaques Ibert's Concertino da Camera. During my collegiate career I traveled and performed internationally, and sought out opportunities to study under some of the world's most renowned saxophonists, including Eugene Rousseau, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, and Otis Murphy. As a parent, I understand the importance of building up from foundations, and I illustrate that same dedication as I would with my own children through teaching music. I know that everyone learns at different paces, different styles, different ways. My goal is to individualize each musical teaching experience that best serves each student's needs. I meet students at their personal level, and we build from there. That allows for students to not only feel comfortable with the expectations set, but it allows for them to feel as if they can meet goals. Read More

With the piano books there are also theory workbooks that give them a chance to think about what they are actually doing when it comes to making music. With the older students on piano, I stick with Alfred's Piano books for adults. Read More

In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist. I have had the chance to perform and record in some of Nashville's most historic venues and recording studios. I believe music is a powerful tool of individual expression, and I want to help my students achieve that same spirit in their own playing. Read More
