I have been teaching band in the Dallas Independent School District for 25 years as of 2019 and privately as well. I really enjoy working with students privately the most. I have also performed professionally with several bands as well over the past 30 years and currently. I love helping musicians of all ages to improve their performance skills and confidence in presenting them. For example I have 3 students already in Berklee and another student is in Juliard, NY. Other students, are non musicians wanting to learn saxophone and music. My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Encouraging regular practice, building the life-long skill of discipline, and hard work are key skills that I enjoy getting to emphasize to my students, as it has a tendency to build student progression and ultimately gain a passion for learning the instrument. For my beginner saxophone students we will start by assembling the instrument and using the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to learn the basic fingerings and songs. As for my beginner piano students we will start off with the Faber Piano Adventures book and work our way through the lessons. Once the student becomes more comfortable with their instruments we will start introducing appropriate solo repertoire and find songs that the individual student would enjoy learning. Read More

I have multiple books to work from based on the age and skill level of the student. I work fundamentals with all levels and can teach topics from multiple angles. My music library is expanding and becoming more diverse so that I give work solos with all of my students. I keep track of lessons and set a plan for each student in order to maintain forward progress. Read More
