I knew I would enjoy teaching others when I was a member of my high school band's leadership team. As I helped others, I found that I truly enjoyed the brilliant moments of success. Aside from teaching, I still enjoy performing on my instruments (sax, guitar, and piano) and am always looking to take on new students!
I have been teaching private lessons since I was in high school in 2007. I worked with younger students in my program who couldn't afford the rates of the professional instructors in the area, so I taught for free to members of our lowest ensemble. I found that I enjoyed teaching and I soon set course for my degree in music education. I continued teaching while at college to student ages 10 - 31. My passion grew stonger and after being a director, I found that I enjoy working with individuals and smaller groups much more! Bring a hard work ethic and let's get started!
I have multiple books to work from based on the age and skill level of the student. I work fundamentals with all levels and can teach topics from multiple angles. My music library is expanding and becoming more diverse so that I give work solos with all of my students. I keep track of lessons and set a plan for each student in order to maintain forward progress.
I enjoy playing with the student at times and I tend to move around frequently. This allows me to demonstrate styles while watching the student's enbouchure, posture, angles, and instrument position from every angle. I give praise when praise is due and motivation when I sense struggling!
