Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet Oboe
My teaching method starts with whatever the school is using. I don't want to contradict their music teacher. If they don't have a teacher at school then I will recommend a method book depending on their level. I don't believe in teaching beginners that there are easy scales and hard scales. A mistake many teachers make is conditioning students to believe that a C scale is easy and a F# scale is hard. Read More

I believe learning music should be a fun process. It is my goal to make sure the student enjoys learning at every step of the way. I encourage students to set realistic goals and help aid them in finding the best way to achieve them. I hope to inspire the student to become eager to learn and make music and enjoyable part of their life! Read More

No matter which direction my students go, I always try to make sure they're having fun with the music and being able to play their instrument. Because otherwise, the music won't come out the same way without having that extra feeling put into it. In order for my students to reach further enjoyability, I always try to respect the pace at which each student picks up material and encourage my students to go about their craft with honesty and respect their own pace, knowing that music as a whole isn't a competition and that these students will all eventually reach their goal through patience. For beginning students, I start with Essential Elements, or another comparable method if their band program uses another book. Once the student reaches middle school and has a good concept of fundamentals, we progress to the Himie Voxman Selected Studies and Duets books. For high school and advanced middle school students, I use the Baermann Division III book, the Klose Method, the Rose etudes for clarinet, as well as beginning to introduce appropriate solo repertoire. Instruments: Piano Saxophone
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons during my summers off over a decade ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular consistent daily practice is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I feel like I have a very loose teaching style that is grounded in the fundamentals. I do not put deadlines or timelines on any student's progress, and I also realize that each student's needs are unique to each and every person. I work to give each and every student a very solid understanding of music (being able to sit at a piano or pick up a horn and play music, be able to recognize and understand the theoretical aspects of music, aurally discern chord progression and when a wrong not is played to understand why chords move they way they do and be able to easily hear your own musitakes).
