Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes. Classes are also available for older beginners interested in learning classical or other styles. Read More

I am a nurturer. I teach with caring, passion and support of all my students. It's not just enough show students how to play a note or read a rhythm, but how to use that knowledge in everyday life. I like to build a positive working relationship with my students. This way they look forward to their lesson, not only because they are comfortable around me, but because they are growing and learning about music and it's relationship to life. Read More

I have lead others and taught them before ever having my own classroom as a leader in High School and College. It has greatly pleased me that my students have had many accomplishments in many groups. These vary from various Honors Bands, the Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra, and many High Valued Scholarships. I ecourage regular practice for all my students to review and refine their musicianship overall. I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to teach those who are interested. Read More

Developing respect and passion for music is paramount in music lessons. I don't believe in forcing method books and content that, at the end of the day, the student doesn't care about, on my students, they should have a voice in what their being taught. I tailor my teaching style to fit every single student differently. Young players must learn scales and etudes, but that is usually only for half of the lesson; the other half usually consists of finding inspirational performances and pieces that will be FUN for the both of us to learn. My teaching experience is extremely broad and deep as I have had the pleasure of being a music director for many performing ensembles throughout Georgia and have won numerous top honors and awards at competitions and festival showcases throughout the country. Simultaneously as a live performing musician I was directing students in a broad genre of music since the inception of my career and these groups would perform as individual solo artist or as a full ensemble and have a great experience earning top honors and awards at all presentations. I love seeing students realize their own progress. I always like to start with recording a first attempt and then recording it again once it has been mastered so they can see their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement teaching. It is very easy, especially for a new student, to get bogged down in not making progress fast enough so I like to make sure they see all the steps they're taking and also know where it will lead them. I would describe my teaching style as fun and goal oriented. I want my students to love music! It's obviously important that each student progresses in their playing as well as their understanding of music. A method I use is knows as PSP (Praise, Suggest, Praise). I like to acknowledge accomplishments to promote a positive environment. Part of what I like to do is find out what makes a student want to play music. Read More
