My method of working with drums and percussion is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both goals involving general drums/percussion and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. This will include exercises tailored directly to the student's needs and desires within drums/percussion as well as overall musical standings and guiding the student to repertoire that will both be fun for them to play and will teach them more about the concepts we are working on. I do believe in the fundamentals of music and ultimately, no matter what you hear, learning music is not re-inventing the wheel. There is technique, reading music and understanding the basics of how the particular instrument works. I like the Essential Elements for Guitar or bass for guitarists and bassists and Alfred's Piano method books. Ted Reed's Guide to Syncopation is a good drum book. Ultimately I like to get the know the student as much as I can as soon as I can so I can help them get to what they want as soon as possible with a few laughs along the way. Read More

During my undergraduate education at Baylor University I began teaching drum set and percussion to middle and high school aged students. During my time at Rutgers I took on many students of all ages on drum set and piano and I have been teaching consistently ever since. For all my students my focus is on listening, reading, and experimentation. Listening to all kinds of music helps develop your musical ear and your intuition. Read More

Establishing a trusting and balanced bond between teacher and student is imperative to musical growth. Everyone has their own tastes, goals and preferred learning and communication styles. I take pride in embracing more of a mentoring approach, tailoring my teaching style and materials to each individual student in hopes of guiding them on their musical journey rather than choosing it for them. I believe in creating a strong basis of knowledge in theory, technique, and composition (at the levels appropriate for the student's current progress). Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice

I began teaching private voice and piano lessons in 2010 while pursing my undergraduate degree, immediately recognizing the joy of helping develop a passion for music within any willing student. I have since continued to teach students of all ages, styles, and experience levels at a studio location, in student's homes, and in music schools. Since I began teaching, I've been most surprised by how much a musical education benefits any student in many aspects of life, whether that be in school, work, or other creative outlets. Read More

Having received an excellent, unique, and non-standard musical education on piano and voice in Russia, I got inspired by my teacher to share the knowledge , skill sm and love I have to music with others. My tutoring on piano includes proper playing techniques, musical hearing, sheet music reading, development of musical intuition. My tutoring on voice includes musical hearing, proper breathing, proper sound production. I've been performing since age 4, both on piano and voice. Read More

I have a simple methods for teaching is: All the students have to have 3 Ps. The first one is: PREPARE The second P is: PRESENT The third P is: PRACTICE Also, I am a Music teacher, not a responsibility teacher. That means I am not take care your books or your homework. That the any student have to do it. Every student have to be on time in the studio classes, because I use have another student and then I can not sacrificing some one to come on time for some one to come some late. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
