I began teaching piano and voice lessons in 1996 when I was a college student. I was trained to teach by the director of Studio 90 Music School in Massachusetts. I then went on to acquire my own students, and travelled around the greater Boston area teaching children and adults in their homes. I have also taught out of many local music stores. In 2009 I went back to school for Early Care and Education, which has greatly enhanced my skills and passion for teaching younger children. Read More

I enjoy teaching and watching musicians grow in their abilities. I like to give a solid base for a beginning musician to build upon while keeping lessons fun and interesting. Patience is the key, because I remember when I started playing and the more I practiced the better I became. I like to take our time and practice every exercise slowing until we become confident and then we will add some speed. Read More

I also taught at music theory and composition and accompanied the string studio recital at Gonzaga University from 2017-2018. I believe strongly that studying an instrument brings lifelong rewards. I am an active, professional composer of opera, choral music, wind and orchestral music, chamber music, art song, film music, and dance music. During my undergraduate years, I was a pianist for the Milwaukee Ballet as well as several other ballet schools and departments in Milwaukee, Texas, and Germany. Read More

It is of paramount importance that instructors not only pay close attention to their student's progress, but also their lack of progress in whatever areas they may be struggling in. Read More

I believe in individual piano lessons for my students. Traditionally I have taught using Faber's Piano Adventures and the Alfred Series. I also have used the Bastian series. However, I often adapt my lessons to match the needs of my students. I am currently designing my own curriculum to better meet the needs of my piano studio. Read More

And What are you doing really well or have accomplished in this past week? In my experience, people learn best when they enjoy the music they're learning and become aware of their progress and accomplishments. I encourage my students to be patient when learning a difficult piece or gaining new skills. Like anythings progress takes a little time and hard work, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun along the way! Read More
