I started teaching my first student in 2008 when I was studying at the University of Washington. Since then my studio has really taken off and I find that I love teaching more and more! I have coached advanced adult students and taught many children (some starting as early as 5 years old). I do not have a specific book that I work out of, though if the student has one that they work out of I would be happy to accommodate. It’s important that expectations are set at the very beginning. I like to have fun with my students but I also keep them accountable. I set realistic practice goals and SMART goals towards bigger quarterly goals whether that’s a recital or a YouTube video for online students. I think it’s super important to reward students for accomplishments and I am a strong believer in that all students are motivated and inspired differently. Read More
