I am a versatile music teacher. As an undergraduate at Ithaca College, I learned each band and orchestra instrument from the college instructor. For example, I learned to play the oboe from the oboe professor. We had to make our own reeds and use them to play our final exam. Through this rigorous training, I learned to play all major scales and high school level music on the flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, French Horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and percussion. I start by gathering information about a student's goals and inspirations, and prior knowledge/experience. From there, we develop a plan for warmup exercises, technical exercises, literature, sight-reading, ear-training and listening excerpts to be studied. I determine whether the student needs to begin learning primarily by ear or using some kind of written notation. We find a schedule that will work with both of us. Most students have a regular weekly time, but some students need a variable time due to their individual schedule so we work that out in advance. Read More

I have worked with other professionals to compose a ballet and enjoy working with young people. I performed in college many times and have the experience to teach students the challenges in memorization and performance. Read More

I always keep the students in mind with progression and excitement constantly. The throwback from week to week will give both the student and teacher a insight what has to be improved and advanced. I have many students playing professionally in bands and orchestra's as well. Each student has individual needs that will be in conjunction with the personality of the student a great rapport with both of us or group I am working with. Read More

My teaching experience dates back nearly 30 years now! I have worked with students of many ages and proficiencies. Some students are more inclined to play by ear and others more inclined to read from the music. As a teacher I try to spot the type of learner that a student is, and work to strengthen areas that need exercise. I enjoy working with a wide age range of students, and believe that learning the piano can be a great asset at any age. Read More
