The first step of teaching an instrument to anyone is accurately finding out how experienced they are with the instrument. As far as beginners go, when I was taught piano I used Alfred's Basic Piano library, among other similar books. I felt nothing was forced or unnecessary with those books, and it gives a good opportunity to set a nice goal-oriented pace with moving on up in skill level all the way to the upper intermediate level. There is also an Alfred's adult course for the older students. It really conveys everything from actual performance pieces to theory concepts. Once the basics of the piano are learned (i.e reading music, note names and finger positions etc.), pieces will begin to be played. Not to place all my eggs in one basket, I will also personally pick pieces I feel are appropriate with the current skill level of the student, ranging from pop to classical to ragtime to anything I feel would be fun and challenging. Also, for the experienced student trying to immerse themselves fully in piano I would suggest The Piano Handbook by Carl Humphries. It is by far the most comprehensive single book i've ever come across.

I have been teaching piano lessons for five years, while at college and since I have graduated.  I like to keep things interesting for the student by devoting portions of the lesson times to different activities, which include technique and theory along with their regular lesson pieces.  I also use incentives to increase their practice times between lessons, which, in turn, increases their sense of accomplishment!

I am familiar with most method books on the market today and select books based on my students age and level of development when introducing them to piano or flute music. In addition to recitals my students that participate in local Festivals progress through the required levels smoothly as repertoire becomes more challenging.  Likewise, my students that participate in the Achievement Program follow the syllabi set by the Royal Conservatory of Music.   All my students become well rounded musicians because I incorporate scales and etudes, sight reading and ear training to their practical repertoire.

I began to take music lessons 20 years ago. When it came time for me to choose a degree and career path, I sought the idea of music therapy - using music to benefit and help others. After learning that career did exist, I completed my education and training to become a board certified music therapist (MT-BC). I understand deeply on a personal and cognitive level the importance of music, and how it shapes and moulds a person's personality and ability to connect with the world around them. I am always excited to teach someone the fundamentals of music in order to help them understand music, and learn how it can positvely affect their life in the unique way only music can.

In voice, you must think as an instrument and as a person as well. Every person is different, so the method. There are extroverted and shy persons. I am always respectful and patient with my student's pace and personality. Everyone is different, so I put a lot of effort to take out the very best from my students. If I cannot help, I am very honest to tell you to change professor.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
