My teaching methods are flexible and student-centered. I believe there is no single right way to learn piano, so I adapt lessons to each students age, personality, learning style, and goals. I combine traditional piano fundamentals with creative exploration to keep lessons engaging and accessible. Students may learn through reading music, listening, playing by ear, improvising, singing, or a combination of all of these. For beginning students, I start with the traditional Mel Bay (or comparable) beginner books that focus on the fundamentals while building strength and coordination and just build from there.  For students with a little more experience, I like to focus on more challenging exercises and concepts while nurturing their knowledge of music theory and performance.  Each student is different and knowing what motivates them motivates me.  My goal is to have them want to pick up their instrument and play. More than anything music should be fun. The greatest musicians are the ones who enjoy playing music even when they're just practicing. I like to teach in a way that involves asking the student questions in order to get them to figure out the answer for themself, rather than just lecturing the whole time while they start daydreaming! I have been a high school and middle school teacher of the humanities for a couple of years now, which I have greatly enjoyed. In addition to this, I have a couple of piano students, which I taught for a while now. I encourage them to practice consistently at least for a half an hour a day so that they progress faster. In my lessons, I assign a classical piece, scale exercises, and even a pop piece to motivate them so that they not only continue to improve, but also implement what they learned in the pop piece itself. I have been passionate instructor and have been playing multi instruments for 15+ years. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and work as an ABA Therapist for autistic children. I have been in multiple bands and recorded a lot of songs. I have toured Michigan and the outer areas. I have had the opportunity to play at the Majestic Theater in Detroit, as well as St. Andrew's.
