As a pianist, I took classes from IU that broadened my capability as a teacher to teach everything from general, choral, and instrumental music. I had my senior piano solo recital. I have a diverse range of performing experiences as a vocalist, including Opera, International Vocal Ensemble, and show choirs. With voice lessons, I have learned a lot about singing and being able to teach healthy singing. Helping a student become passionate about music is the most rewarding thing I can get from teaching. I set realistic goals that help the student progress at a rate geared towards the student's own pace. Positive feedback helps instill a desire to continue working and practicing regularly. This also pushes the student to wish to learn and work on more challenging materials. For beginner students that are younger, age 5 or 6, I will use the Faber primer lesson books. For older children, I like to use either Faber or Schaum Series music books. For adults I use either Faber or Alfred series music books. I purchase the books for the students and ask that the students to reimburse me the cost of the books. I placed first in American Protg International Competition in which I was invited back to perform Liebermann's Gargoyles as a first prize winner at Carnegie Weill recital hall in New York. I placed second in Liszt-Garrison International Competition in Baltimore, MD., and I was selected as an Alternate Illinois State Winner and Honorable mention at MTNA Young Artist Competition in 2012 and 2013.
