I started playing piano since I was 7. My dream was to be a church musician so I when to a college and graduated with a Bachelor of Church Music. My job title is a church pianist and church organist. It's been almost 30 years since I've been playing and teaching my skills to people. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I still do performance and recitals from time to time. I still teach many students. I love music and enjoy teaching.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 30 years ago, and I have been teaching students consistently. I've been a pianist at several churches in the past 25 years and teaching private lessons to many students of all ages( pre school to adult) and all levels. I taught at Music and Art and I've been teaching piano lesson at Schaumburg park district. I also can teach piano ensemble and I can also teach to collaborate with any other solo instrument.
In my private lesson, you'll gain an understanding, not only of the piano and how to play it in many different styles, but also of music, how it works and how songs are formed and structured. You are about to begin a journey of playing the piano that will take you as far as you are willing and able to go. I will give you everything you need to learn to play the piano by ear, along with lots of extras. You will learn about melodies and harmonies, chord structures and rhythms, bass lines and more. The musicianship that you gain from me will help you in all your musical pursuits both on and off the piano.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. as all students are different, I always respect that and teach accordingly.
