I was born in China and started to learn the piano from 5 years old. I performed on the stage when she was 8 and was admitted by the Music Middle School of Tianjin Conservatory at the age of 12. During the time in this professional school, I was majoring in piano performance and classical composition under Professor Han Fang and Wang Yi Bo; I played in a variety of concerts (include solo, concerto, duo piano, and piano accompaniment) and competitions, and got different awards in those competitions. I like to get to know the student as I am teaching so I create small breaks to get to know who I am teachign and their interest, so that I may taylor my lessons to the student. For beginning students I like to use essential elements books as a guide for their practice. I am trained as a classical pianist and became a professional jazz singer in New York City in my late teens. I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and later a Masters in Music Education degree from Columbia University. I teach all types of learners from typical to prodigies, and children with developmental disorders such as ADD, Dyslexia and autism, even cerebral palsy.
