For my beginner students who are children I typically start out with either Hal Leonard or Fabre lesson books to learn all the very important foundational keys in music. As I notice they are grasping the concepts and able to apply them I then like to find outside resources such as sheet music, classical, pop to allow them to enjoy and discover what they love most. I’m a very dedicated, passionate musician who loves working with students and sharing the beauty that is music. I spent my teenage years playing in a variety of bands and touring the country with said bands which only further solidified my love of music. I then attended Western Illinois to study music at a collegiate level and there I received formal training in both classical and jazz music, I graduated this past May of 2018 and since then have been playing full time with a professional cover band named Karma Committee who I play with most every weekend at a variety of venues throughout the Chicago area as well as some venues in Ohio and Iowa. I taught formal lessons after I had graduated from college. I have also instructed family and friends and have helped them further develop their piano skills. Encouraging regular practise and emphasizing proper hand and wrist placement are things that I emphasize. I like to watch and see why someone is struggling to play a song, and I am able to offer a solution. I also believe that music in itself can be used as a means through which the world can be impacted for good.
