In college, I got into theater while pursuing my music degree. I fell in love with the "behind the scenes" side of things, and operated a spotlight for most of the JALC shows between 2006 and 2012. Often, it was my job to train the second spotlight operator, as there was usually a different person for each new show. Being in choir as long as I have, I've definitely given many pointers to my fellow students. Read More

My teaching style is a little different. I'm used to very traditional training and the things I've learned from college has inspired me to take a different approach. Over many years of experience working with beginners, I have developed my own methodology that enables rapid growth in the play, and my students show very good results already in the first year. An example of this is my student, who entered Manhattan School with a big scholarship after her first year of study performing a concert by D. Read More

I use some tried and true materials, create materials for students, and create materials alongside the students for their lessons. The materials are dependent on the student's background, strengths, and interests, but there are some things that are necessarily taught to everyone. For example; I use excerpts from Bradford Werner's Guitar Method frequently for reading staff notation on the guitar, because it emphasizes using physiologically simple etudes. Since the music is very physically easy, the student can focus on the cognitive challenge of interpreting musical notation. Read More
