I like a light, fun atmosphere during lessons, one that reflects the learning style and personality of each student. There are some not-so-fun things about learning music (practice schedules and repetition) but there are plenty of resources out there to help students stay interested and motivated. I like to reward accomplishments (stickers are always awesome) and offer opportunities for improvement. I work for a positive and balanced experience for every student.
Although my expertise is in performance, vocal technique, musical analysis, theory, and principle applications of classical music, 10 years of experience has taught me that the arts encompass every aspect of our lives. Through music, literature, and the arts, I endeavor to inspire children and adults alike to learn at play, to give and grow, explore and discover. I believe that every moment of a young person’s life is an opportunity for growth and enrichment. As they learn about themselves and the world around them, we can guide their footsteps with tender care, wisdom, insight, encouragement and love. I believe that students need to be surrounded with opportunities to express from their hearts and minds, know themselves, embrace the arts, and enjoy the nurturing of their tender, ripening intellect. It is also my most sincere belief that music is one of the most poignant mediums by which we can offer these opportunities. It touches the deepest and most inexplicable parts of us all, yet it can be simple enough for anyone to understand---even an unborn child. The principles of music have been proven to literally train a young brain to be receptive to complex learning, high levels of thinking and reasoning, and the mastery of numeration, sequencing, and calculation. Although every teaching experience is unique, my constant goal is to excellently open the door for the mastery of musical understanding and technique, as it brings about self-confidence, broadens self-awareness, fosters the development of intellect and nurtures a love of learning.
I believe that anyone can achieve success when pursuing the study of music! It is the teacher's role to discover strengths and interests and to guide the student in developing their fullest musical potential. As an educator, I understand that students need assignments that are at their independent level of study, and base the lesson experience on that knowledge. I love seeing the joy and confidence that emerges as students progress toward their goal of playing and singing well!
Music is essential to the soul and introduce individuals to a whole new world of creativity. Its important for student to have a stable foundation with the techniques and the overall feeling of music. I encourage every student to think outside of the box when it comes to music for it has its own expression and everyone has their own story to tell. Inspiration is key with anything we do in life and music can help grow an individual to inspire others. Music is a way to express who we are and without society would be lost.
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students. When I was young I asked my dad to teach me something on his old acustic guitar. Before he knew it I was taking lessons and surpassing him on guitar and piano. In high school I started listening to a wide variety of music and began teaching under the auspices of a local teacher with a studio. I eventually saved up enough money to buy a good double bass, the instrument that I would later use in college and many ensembles. I was attending school full time and teaching, at times, thirty hours a week. I joined bands that gigged regularly around Cincinnati and the country. We were recorded on NPR and a handful local, independent radio stations in the midwest. After college, I continuted teaching and found a regular gig at an upscale hotel in downtown Cincinnati. I played with in the Philip Paul Jazz Trio, three nights a week and every holiday in the hotel lounge.

For adults who are looking to learn to play the piano, we recommend that they do so with some clear goals in mind. Maybe you want to learn to play some of your favorite songs, pass an exam, or write your own music. Whatever the aim, the experienced teachers in our network can help unlock the skills necessary to make those goals a reality. It can take time to develop the techniques and co-ordination required to play the piano to a competent level. However, playing the piano is a great stress reliever, keeps you mentally active, and can help with your hearing and fine-motor skills.
As students will need to practice the content taught during their lessons, they will need to invest in a digital piano or a keyboard. There are a number of different keyboards on the market, however we suggest looking to buy one with 61 keys or more. Keyboards with weighted action keys are most like that of a real piano, and are recommended. Keyboards are often a cheaper and more convenient option than digital pianos or real acoustic pianos, as they can be transported around and played using headphones. That said, if buying an acoustic piano is within your budget, it will provide the most satisfying learning experience.
One-on-one piano lessons straight from the comfort of your own home is a great way to learn to play the piano. 90% of our students choose to take lessons from home, mostly due to the convenience of not having to make travel arrangements both to and from their lessons. This is great for parents and students with busy schedules. The content of home lessons is exactly the same as studio lessons, however, you will need to have a keyboard or piano at your home. Home lessons provide the best learning environment, as it is a comfortable, familiar surrounding for students to learn in.
Musika teachers do not adhere to one specific method for all their students. Most teachers will customize their lesson plans to the individual needs and skill level of the student. If you are looking for any specific teaching styles or methods to be used in your lessons, please let us know during the matching process and we can try to assign you to the teacher who will best suit your needs. Generally all lessons will cover topics focused on learning to read music, practice skills, music theory and musicianship, ear training, and rhythm skills.
Learning to play the piano as a child is fun, rewarding, and vastly beneficial to their overall development. Children can develop their motor-skills, dexterity, and coordination through technical piano playing such as learning scales, chords, and correct fingering. Young students can also develop their concentration, listening skills, and ability to master complex thought processes through theory, repertoire, and student-teacher feedback. Learning to play the piano can also be character building by instilling a hard-working attitude, developing self-discipline and confidence through practice, taking exams, entering competitions or performing recitals.

Lindsey has been coming to our house to give saxophone lessons to our 12 year old daughter for about a month. She is an absolute joy. She is extremely knowledgeable, flexible with her schedule, and my daughter thinks she is "fun" and "cool". We would highly recommend her to anyone wanting music lessons. A+

Laura is a fabulous teacher. She explains concepts to me using concrete examples so that I can understand changes that I need to make to my posture, breathing, phrasing, etc. She makes warm-up exercises fun, and she's got a great sense of humor over all. Her teaching style is collaborative, more egalitarian (she respects what I already know and meets me at my level), tailored to my particular interests and strengths, and I always look forward to our lessons!

Cory is simply the greatest instructor ever! His 30 year plus teaching experience along with his knowledge of ever longer in music composition and performance make a real difference if you're in for learning the right way. Thank you Cory for teaching me not only the chords but also the history behind it and awesome tricks on getting better faster ;)

Mrs. Regnarene is an awesome teacher!!! She found musical aids that appealed to my 5 year old daughter and used them to help teach her piano. She has a lot of patience and I could tell she puts in the work before class to have a lesson ready for my daughter. She is always punctual, friendly and respectful. I would recommend her to any parents who want to start their kids off with a good foundation in piano. Jermain T. Riverview, FL

I had always wanted to take vocal lessons, but was very nervous about it until I had the opportunity to have Ali as my instructor. She made me feel very comfortable and helped me realize my strengths while giving me other areas to work on and strengthen. I liked how Ali had me sing out of my "comfort" zone to realize my vocal range. It is obvious that Ali loves music and sharing that love with her students. She is very good at what she does and works well with both male and female voices. I highly recommend Ali and give her solid 5 stars

Steve gets you started right away with songs but also goes into music theory and reading music which adds to understanding and appreciation of the music. He is very approachable and you can tell that he absolutely loves music and teaching. It is hard not to be excited about the process of learning with Steve. If you are considering lessons I highly recommend Steve for any level of student.

"I've been taking lessons with Richard for just a little over six months now and all I can say is that he is an amazing instructor. He hasn't followed a set one size fits all script in his lessons but has instead worked with my musical interests and at my pace in a way that is truly valuable. He has also kept things fun, interesting, and engaging even at times when I've felt overwhelmed and discouraged. This is an instructor that is truly adaptable to his students and will make sure that they get the most out of their lessons. I would definitely recommend him to anybody that truly wants to unlock their musical potential."
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
